Abstract：?The cotton production of Hubei Province made a great progress in mod-ern times (1840-1949), and held an important place in China. North, East andJianghan Plain were main producing distribution. The main causes included drive ofbenifit, the progress of modern,s cotton textiles industry and the government,s ad-vocation. The unscientific planting method led to poor quality and lower output ofcotton- The cotton production was short of stability because of natural calamity.
