Abstract：Medical images often exhibit poor contrast along with relatively high noise level. How to enhance this kind of images to extract weak signal is the emphases in this paper.The approach developed in this paper processes wavelet coefficients individually and analyzes the correlation between wavelet layers, which provides the evidence of noise, and this information can be used to enhance image. Experiment results indicate that the approach of wavelet enhancement in this paper can reduce the amplification of noise and achieve an excellent balance between the enhancement of subtle image detail and the avoidance of noise amplification.
