Abstract:This paper studied sensitivity, specificity and practical value and significance of ELISA in the detection of antibodies against Fasciolopsis buski in human sera. 168 cases of Fasciolopsiasis were detected for antibodies against Fasciolopsis buski in sera by ELISA, and a comparative investigation was done in the local residents without Fasciolopsis buski and 96 cases of Schistosomiasis japonica and 56 cases of Paragonimus westermani by ELISA for assessment of sensitivity, specificity and crossing reaction. The results were observed with naked eyes and ELISA OD value. Results 165 cases were positive in antibodies against Fasciolopsis buski in human sera among 168 victims of Fasciolopsis buski. The positive correspondence rate between ELISA and Kato-Katz's thick smear was 98.21%. 6 of 147 pieces of sera from the local residents without Fasciolopsis buski was positive in fasciolopsis antibodies. Positive rate was 4.08%. The crossing positive rate to schistosomiasis was 9.38%, to paragonimiasis was 5.36%. Conclusion ELISA with the frozen soaked adult antigen of Fasciolopsis buski to detect fasciolopsis antibodies in human sera had the characteristics of high sensitivity, strong specificity and low crossing reaction rate. It could be used to substitute fecal examination techniques for diagnosis of Fasciolopsis buski.
