Abstract：Remote sensing is a Hi-New technology developed in the past several decades' years. Many applications have been made in various fields. This paper discusses, the advantages of remote sensing technology in tourism planning & design. It includes the follow four aspects: (1) using the remote sensing image to determine the physical environment and the location of the tourism destination; (2) to investigate tourist resources' quantity and quality of the tourism resources; (3) to chart the basic map for the tourism planning & design; (4) to employ the technology of Virtual reality and remote sensing data to make dynamic tourist planning; (5) to us it as the strong data source of GIS to make tourist planning geographic information system to service for the tourist decision. Further more, the use of the various image of remote sensing in tourism planning & design is also expected.
