Abstract：According to its ability to synthesize 1,3-propanediol from glycerol, a species was isolated from the anoxic mud. The product of glycerol conversion was identified using GC-MS. The most active strain was able to convert up to 40 g/L of glycerol to 25. 8 g/L 1,3-propanediol in 96hr. The optimal conditions of fermentation were investigated. The yield of 1,3-propanediol was up to 47.3 %.
