Abstract:Now it is very common to use microprocessors to perform digital filtering. An experiment using a Z-80 micropocessor with an Am 9511 Arithmetic processing Unit (APU) in a second order digital filter is introduced in this paper In the experiment a second order digital filter, with eight-bit number precision, achieves a sampling rate of 800 samples/ second. For two Z-80 microprocessors operating in parallel as in a 4 th order digital filter, the sampling rate is still 800 samples/sec. This kind of a digital filter has practical significa nce to perform simple and convenient real-time signal processing.
