Prediction of failure time for Pareto product under double type-I hybrid censoring

Abstract:Assuming that the failure times of the tested samples follow Pareto distribution, the probability density functions of the future failure times are obtained based on the double type-I hybrid censored samples, the point prediction and interval prediction of the future failure times are obtained by using the classic method. When prior distribution of the shape parameter is taken as the Gamma prior or non-informative prior, the equal tailed prediction intervals of the future failure times are obtained. According to the obtained double type-I hybrid censored data, for any product independent and identically distributed in the Pareto distribution, the median prediction and interval prediction of its failure time are obtained. With the help of a numerical example, the relevant point predictions and interval predictions are calculated by using the conclusions in the article.
