Research on the impact of digital capability on the development level of the integration of culture and tourism in Chinese provincial areas：empirical evidence based on panel data from 2013 to 2022

Abstract：Digital capability is an important driving force for regional industrial development， but the relationship between digital capability and the development level of provincial integration of culture and tourism has not been systematically and empirically demonstrated. On the basis of constructing the evaluation index system of digital capability and the development level of integration of culture and tourism， this paper takes 30 provinces in China from 2013 to 2022 as research objects to examine the effect of digital capability on the development of integration of culture and tourism. The study found that 1) the development level of digital capability and the integration of culture and tourism in China from 2013 to 2022 showed a fluctuating growth with obvious regional heterogeneity characteristics. The eastern region demonstrated a pattern of high digital capability with high integration of culture and tourism， while the central region demonstrated a pattern of low digital capability with high integration of culture and tourism， and the western region， low digital capability with low integration of culture and tourism. 2) Digital capability building significantly improves the level of provincial integration of cultural and tourism development， and the promotion effect is more obvious in the eastern region， the western region， and the region with a lower level of digital capability. 3) Government intervention brings a positive moderating effect on the interactive relationship between digital capability and the integration development of cultural tourism. This paper helps to deepen the understanding of the relationship between digital capability and the integration of culture and tourism， and promote the integration of culture and tourism in China.
