Abstract:Against the backdrop of the digital age, this study conducted an in-depth meta-analysis on the factors influencing travel intentions among vulnerable groups, aiming to promote more inclusive development in tourism services. The research revealed that while theoretical discussions on the travel intentions of vulnerable groups have increased, inconsistency and contradiction can be found among current findings. This study synthesized 33 empirical research reports to establish a model of influencing factors and drew the following conclusions: 1) Digital technology provides significant benefits to vulnerable groups, including overcoming social and institutional barriers, enhancing accessibility and usability of services. However, information overload and social anxiety may undermine the travel intentions of some vulnerable individuals. Specifically, the integration of digital technology, such as online educational resources and virtual travel experiences, helps boost the confidence of vulnerable groups and overcome internal barriers. Travel intentions among vulnerable groups are significantly influenced by travel obstacles and travel motivations. 2) There is a significant negative correlation between travel intentions and personal internal constraints, interpersonal constraints, structural constraints, and a sense of helplessness. Conversely, travel motivations such as socializing, escapism/relaxation, self-development, self-actualization, and autonomy show a significant positive correlation with travel intentions. 3) The study emphasized that the moderating effects of travel obstacles, travel motivations, and travel intentions vary among different types of vulnerable groups, finding that people with disabilities have a stronger moderating effect compared to the elderly. This suggests that while utilizing digital technology to help vulnerable groups overcome travel obstacles, the effectiveness varies depending on the type of vulnerability. Compared to the elderly, digital technology is more likely to enhance travel intentions among people with disabilities.
