Abstract:The skillful employment of multiple points of view and easy shift of perspectives started early in ancient Chinese narrative works. The proper use of narrative techniques can guide the reader’s evaluation of events and characters, thus enhancing the ethical effect of the work. The employment of techniques itself should also follow certain ethics, and narratives should keep a balance between seeking goodness and faithfulness. Historical narrative differs from literary narrative in that vividness should meet the requirements of faithfulness, and details should also be faithful. This should be taken into consideration when assessing the literary achievements of ancient historical masterpieces.
