Abstract:During the Counter-Japanese War, Huachung University moved to Xizhou town, Dali city, Yunan province via Guilin. Under the circumstances of great difficulties, the university continued its teaching and research. With the sponsorship of Havard-Yenching Institute, the faculty members of the Humanities at Huachung University adopted the international research methodology to explore the history, culture, languages, traditions and societies of southwest China, and conducted the social surveys, linguistic and cultural studies about the ethnic minorities in the borderland. Together with the National Southwest Associated University and Yunnan University, Huachung University and its scholar played an important role on the academic research about the Southwest China during that period.
