Abstract:The distribution structure of human capital can affect the technological innovation through the supply effect of human capital and the demand effect brought by the intermediary mechanism of income gap.Using the provincial panel data from 1999 to 2018 in China to analyze the relationship between human capital distribution structure and technological innovation, this paper draws the following conclusions. The deepening of the inequality of human capital distribution is not conducive to the improvement of technological innovation, which is more significant in the eastern region with higher economic development level. Income gap plays an inverted U-shaped intermediary effect between human capital distribution structure and technological innovation. With the expansion of income gap, the adverse impact of human capital distribution structure on technological innovation is also increasing, which is the most obvious in the central region. The negative impact of human capital distribution structure on technological innovation has double threshold effect based on income gap. Therefore, In order to improve the level of technological innovation, we must attach importance to the coordinated progress of narrowing the income gap and optimizing the distribution structure of human capital, and formulate corresponding measures with different emphasis according to different regions.
