Abstract:Urbanization, industrial structure and ecological environment are inextricably linked. This kind of connection has uncertainties with different regions and times. In this article the urban agglomerations was used in the Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River (MRYR) to establish an evaluation index system, and an entropy method along with a coupling coordination model were introduced. Then the degree of coupling and coordination between the industrial structure and the ecological environment was analyzed in both time and space dimensions in the 28 cities from 2006 to 2015. The results of the study indicate as follows. 1) During the study period, the coupling coordination of regional development in the MRYR showed an upward trend, but the overall increase was not obvious, and some areas were on the verge of maladjustment; 2) Coupling coordination level of the three provincial capitals, Wuhan, Changsha, and Nanchang, is relatively high, and there are significant differences between cities. There is clearly a situation of regional incoherence. 3) Among the urban groups in the MRYR, Fuyang, Yichang, Huangshi, Zhuzhou, and Hengyang have developed well in recent years, and the degree of coupling coordination have increased. This shows that under the background of urbanization and rapid economic development, local cities attach importance to the adjustment of the industrial structure and the protection of the ecological environment. However, for the large urban agglomerations in the MRYR, it is also necessary to pay attention to overall coordinated development.
