| On the Historical Relationship between Harvard-Yenching Institute and the Humanities of Huachung University |

Abstract From 1937，Harvard-Yenching Institute began to sponsor the research in humanities of Huachung University in addition to its six missionary universities in China. The scientific researches achieved by those sponsored scholars were not only well recognized by Harvard-Yanching Institute，but also promoted the humanities of Huachung University during its stay in Hsichow and after its restoration in Wuchang，and exerted profound influence on the relevant scholars in their careers. This paper is aimed at unveiling this unknown part of the history to bring about more Sino-US collaborations in humanities.
