Abstract Basing on data of the third wave of Asia Barometer Survey (ABS) carried on 2011,this study tries to find out how do four types of political trust (hierarchical trust, paradoxical trust, equal trust, equal distrust) affect people’s political participation. The current study reveals that the paradoxical trust holders are the most active to become protesters, followed by the hierarchical trust holders, and the equal trust and distrust holders come to the last. Yet when it comes to election campaign, especially the grassroots election, both the equal trust and paradoxical trust holders play the most active part, the hierarchical trust holders are in the second place and the equal distrust holders are the most reluctant to take part in.
