Abstract Xi Jinping's cultural thought is a significant component of the thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era. It has distinctive historicity， modernity and practicality. The overall vision， systematic thinking and scientific methods that used to recognize the culture by Xi's cultural thought has formed a holistic perspective of culture. Xi's cultural thought is served to indicate directions for the cultural heritage of Chinese nation， to provide a Chinese program for the exchange and mutual assistance of human civilizations and unite the ideological guarantee for the consolidation of the administrative foundation of the Communist Party of China(CPC). Based on the combination of theory and practice， Xi's cultural thought has established the strategic position， target tasks， innovative paradigm and development path for the construction of socialist culture with Chinese characteristics.
