Abstract The paper attempts to find historical answers and realistic responses to housing problems with the complex and diverse background in China. At the early days of the industrial revolution in Germany， a large number of rural labor force entered into cities such as Berlin which led to severe housing shortage.Engels argued from the nature of the housing， living difficulties， inequality， housing supply and the capital logic of housing problem and so on which laid the foundation of Marxist housing theory. Although there are difference in background， cause and performance between China and Germany， we can still find the enlightenment from the above argument.
