Abstract The publishing house of the Yanzhou Cathedral was the publishing center of the Divine Word Missionaries (SVD) in China. It was one of the most important catholic publishing houses in modern China. The publishing house produced many missionary books in plain Chinese, which played important roles in disseminating Catholicism in the north of China. Its publications also included the works on the history of the Catholic Church in China and sinological works, which are valuable historical records and deserve further attention. The publishing activities of the Yanzhou Cathedral show the features of diversity, openness, popularity, and localization. The publishing house of the Yanzhou Cathedral provides an appropriate window to observe the publishing activities of the Catholic church in China from the late 19th century to the middle of the 20th century.
