| The Types and Geographical Distribution of “VP-Neg” Questions in Chinese Dialect |

Abstract Interrogative pattern of “VP-Neg” plays a very important role in the positive and negative interrogative sentences in Chinese dialect. According to different negative words and the structure of sentences, “VP-Neg” can be classified as “VP+Negative Words”, “VP+Compound Negative Words” and “Positive Words+VP+Special Negative Words”. As a frequently used form in Chinese dialect, “VP-Neg” questions have a wide geographical distribution. One-to-one and one-to-many relations exist between the form of sentences and their semantics. In some dialects, interrogative pattern of “VP-Neg” has special expressions in usage.
