Abstract:In order to investigate the chemical components of Thesium chinense Turcz. (T. chinense)and explore the active compounds, the ethyl acetate extract of T. chinense wass isolated and purified in the present study by a combination of normal-phase silica gel column chromatography (CC), HP-20 macroporous resin CC, Sephadex LH-20 gel CC and semi-preparative HPLC. From the extract , the following 20 compounds were isolated and then identified on the basis of spectral data as cimifugin (1), kaempferol 3-O-β-D-glucoside (2), kaempferol-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-glucopyranoside (3), kaempferol (4), \[7-Hydroxy-2-(4-hydroxy-phenyl)-4-oxo-4H-chromen-5-yl\]-acetic acid (5), 5-carbomethoxymethyl-4′,7-dihydroxyavone (6), vanillic acid (7), trans-ferulic acid (8), cinnamic acid (9), pentadecanoic acid (10), ethyl caffeate (11), 4-Hydroxycinnamic acid (12), abscisic acid (13), (+)-dehydrovomifoliol (14), 3-methoxy-1H-pyrrole (15), D-galactitol (16), aurantiamide acetate (17), ethyl-4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoate (18), anacolosine (19), and (-)-5-O-feruloylquinic acid methyl ester (20). The above compounds were isolated from the plant for the first time except for compounds 2-4, which enriched our understanding of the chemical composition of T. chinense, and provided a theoretical basis for exploring the material basis of the medicinal effect, clinical application, and quality control of T. chinense.
