Abstract:In implementing the “dual carbon” strategy, greenization and low carbonization is the inexorable development trend of water transportation in China and even in the whole world. The application of hydrogen energy is vital for achieving energy conservation and emission reduction in the maritime industry. The safe and efficient storage of hydrogen is crucial for its widespread application. Metal hydride hydrogen storage method is considered as a promising option due to its high safety, efficiency, and reliability. This work presents an overview of the principles and classification of metal hydride hydrogen storage, reviews the current research status of metal hydride hydrogen storage systems, and evaluates the advantages and disadvantages of relevant research methods, and finally, offers suggestions for this technology's future promotion and development. It emphasizes the importance of delineating application scenarios, tackling critical technical challenges, and enhancing industry-academia-research collaboration.
