Abstract:Dignity was the pursuit of an ideal personality state of the aristocrats in pre-Qin period. It focused on distinguishing the status of the monarch and his subjects, which contained not only a nobleman’s appearance, manners and mental outlook, but also a nobleman’s benevolent conduct. Thus “dignity” as a political etiquette behavior became the external presentation of “Zhou Wen” from the Western Zhou Dynasty to the Spring and Autumn Period. Through observing dignity people in the Zhou Dynasty reflected the value system in Zhou Wen, to get access to the actual application in the politics and culture.
