Abstract:To evaluate contemporary academic achievements, the ability of communicating with past scholars is more significant than the superiority to contemporary colleagues. The works that are handed down from generation to generation have stood the test of time, while the international academic frontiers of China study are usually marginal. To conduct China study, we should take advantage of external theories on the one hand and maintain our own cultural characteristics on the other hand. As Chinese researchers, we should try to empathize with our past historians and fathom their works, rather than fill Chinese historical materials in western theoretical frame or interpret them by western concepts. Only in this way can we come up with real innovations and lead the academic community of China study. Besides, the academic standards will also be improved effectively.
