The spatial layout and optimization study of health and wellness tourism destinations in Wuhan

Abstract：Health and wellness tourism is the sum of various kinds of tourism activities which are based on good ecological environment and equipment for wellness and medicine， to obtain physical and mental health and pleasure through leisure and health-keeping， vacation wellness， ecosystem cure， old-age care and so on. 50 health and wellness tourism destinations in Wuhan City are taken as the research samples， with adjacent index， Voronoi polygons area coefficient of variation， kernel density analysis and buffer analysis applied to explore its space layout. The study found that： 1) the distribution of health and wellness tourism destinations shows concentration， the internal form the Huangpi Mulan tianchi-Mulan mountain， Caidian Jiuzhen mountain scenic spot， and Jiangxia Liangzi lake scenic area as the core of the three high density area； 2) the distribution of health and wellness tourism destinations is closely related to the traffic arteries and rivers and lakes. The space optimization suggestions are as follows： the new urban area plays its own advantages to establish special health and wellness tourism base； among them， it is suggested to build high-end pension tourism destination， forest health and wellness tourism base， two-lake health and wellness tourism base， horticultural health and wellness base and ecological health and wellness tourism base in Huangpi， Caidian， Jiangxia， Xinzhou， and Dongxihu， respectively； the new urban area is supposed to attract consumers， while the main urban area will provide medical support， which work together to promote the coordinated development of health and wellness tourism in Wuhan City.
