Promotion of scientific journal editor competition on the young talent cultivation of university journals： taking the 5th Youth Editor Competition of China Scientific Journals as an example

Abstract：Young editors carry the future and hope of university journals， and a high-quality young editorial team is an important guarantee for the steady development of university journals in the context of construction of world-class scientific journals. The cultivation of young talents has become an important task for university journals. Compared with professional journals， university journals have a wide range of articles while relatively low academic influence. Young editors of university journals usually have high education and scientific research ability in their own area， often holding several positions while having a weak foundation of editorial knowledge and narrow professional knowledge， and relatively lacking of opportunities for external communication. In this paper， the experience of participating the 5th Youth Editor Competition of China Scientific Journals are summarized and the strategies of young talent cultivation are considered. The promotion of scientific journal editor competition on the young talent cultivation of university journals is analyzed from four aspects： consolidation of foundation， courage to “break the circle”， cross-border communiation， and win-win situation for both journal and editor. Then the relevant path for young talent cultivation are proposed in combination of the characters of university journals for further development.
