Abstract:As an important natural resource in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the Fu River wetland in Wuhan plays an essential role in wetland ecological restoration and wetland function benefit due to the rich biodiversity. From December 2019 to December 2020, the investigation of the bird species composition and diversity in the Wuhan Fu River wetland was conducted by using the method of sample line and sample point, combined with the field investigation and literature data. A total of 223 bird species were found, belonging to 54 families and 18 orders, with the largest proportion of passerine species accounting for approximately 43.05%.In terms of residence type, the migratory birds account for 74.44%,and resident birds only account for 25.56%. According to the animal geographical region in China, the palaearctic specie were the main species, accounting for 59.19%, followed by oriental species (27.35%) and ubiquitous species (13.45%).In terms of the ecological types, songbirds were the most diverse types among the six categories, accounting for 43%, widely distributed in various habitats. The results showed that the species of birds in the Fu River Wetland in Wuhan were rich in types, diverse in species and significant in seasonal diversity. In terms of biodiversity, the species dominance in autumn and winter were more obvious. It is suggested to build the Fu River Wetland Park and establish the key bird protection and monitoring areas to strengthen the investigation and monitoring of rare and endangered birds through long-term dynamic monitoring. Publicity efforts needs to be stepped up to improve the residents' awareness of ecological protection.
