Abstract:The blades of three kinds of Kapok, including Chorisia speciosa, Ceiba pentandra and Bombax celibate, were used as experimental materials. The daily change in photosynthesis were measured by 3051D photosynthetic apparatus with their correlation analyzed. Then the amount of carbon sequestration were calculated by their photosynthetic rate, and thus the carbon sequestration capacity of each was obtained. Results are as follows: the daily change in photosynthetic rate (Pn) of the three kinds of kapok follow an pattern of “M” bimodal curve, having an obvious “noon nap” phenomenon. Each kind of kapoks transpiration rate (Tr) varies as a singlepeak curve with a peak during 12∶00~14∶00 and the Tr of Ceiba pentandra possess earlier apperand higher than the other two varieties; the daily solid carbon of the three Kapoks is 059~068 g·m-2·.d-1,of which that of the Chorisia speciosa and Bombax celibate are both 068 g·m-2·.d-1, while kapok 059 g·m-2·.d-1. The annual solid carbon of the three kapoks is 21449~24611 g, with the carbon sequestration capacity of the Chorisia speciosa weaker than the other two varieties, about 128% lower. Cluster analysis showed that there is an extremely high similarity between Chorisia speciosa and Bombax celibate. This study provides reference for the breeding of optimized variety of kapok trees in gardening.
