Abstract:Using the molecular dynamics simulations, the segregation behavior of a vibrated two-dimensional granular system with a power-law particle size distribution is investigated. Species segregation is observed. It is found that larger particles have a greater extent of condensation in the low-temperature regions than the smaller particles. The granular segregation is more significant with the increase of disparity in particle size. Furthermore, the local particle size distribution maintains the same form as the overall size distribution.
