Abstract:A novel and compact UWB antenna with four notched bands is presented. The basic antenna consists of a U-shaped radiating patch, a tapered microstrip feed-line, and a semielliptical ground plane. By etching a pair of L-shaped slots, CSRR, a pair of C-shaped stubs and four notched bands are achieved to prevent interference from WiMAX, Lower WLAN, upper WLAN and X-band. Experimental results show that the proposed antenna operates from 2.58 to 13 GHz, except for four stop bands of 3.0~3.8 GHz, 5.0~5.37 GHz, 5.6~6.1 GHz and 7.15~7.8 GHz. Good radiation patterns within the operating band have been observed. The antenna has a compact size and it is only 20×30 mm2.
