Abstract：A novel and compact UWB antenna with four notched bands is presented. The basic antenna consists of a U-shaped radiating patch， a tapered microstrip feed-line， and a semielliptical ground plane. By etching a pair of L-shaped slots， CSRR， a pair of C-shaped stubs and four notched bands are achieved to prevent interference from WiMAX， Lower WLAN， upper WLAN and X-band. Experimental results show that the proposed antenna operates from 2.58 to 13 GHz， except for four stop bands of 3.0～3.8 GHz， 5.0～5.37 GHz， 5.6～6.1 GHz and 7.15～7.8 GHz. Good radiation patterns within the operating band have been observed. The antenna has a compact size and it is only 20×30 mm2.
