Abstract:In order to better apply polylactic acid (PLA) which an environment-friendly polymer material that can be completely degraded in the environmental plastics, and to overcome its inherent brittleness, the natural rubber (NR) with good toughness, biocompatibility and low cost was selected to modify it. NR-PLA composites with different NR mass fraction (5%-15%) were prepared by dynamic vulcanization melting processing. The mechanical property test showed that the elongation at break increased from 7.3% (PLA) to 41.1% after adding 10% NR, indicating that NR increased the toughness of PLA. This study would promote the further application of PLA.
