Spatial-temporal evolution and influencing factors of green development in Wuhan Metropolitan Area

Abstract:Green development is crucial to building a beautiful China in the new era of ecological civilization. In this paper, the evaluation index system is constructed from three dimensions of green society, green economy and green ecology, and ESDA, geographic detector model and other methods are adopted to deeply analyze the space-temporal evolution characteristics and influencing factors of green development in Wuhan Metropolitan Area from 2010 to 2020. The results are shown as follows. 1) From the perspective of time evolution, the green development level of Wuhan Metropolitan Area exhibits a “straight line” upward trend, showing the pattern of highest in Wuhan and lowest in Tianmen City, with significant regional differences. 2) From the perspective of spatial evolution, the spatial pattern of green development in Wuhan Metropolitan Area is relatively stable, gradually forming the spatial distribution characteristics of “high in the middle and low around it” from 2010 to 2020. 3) From the perspective of spatial correlation, from 2010 to 2020, the green development of Wuhan Metropolitan Area displayed a positive spatial correlation, and the degree of spatial agglomeration gradually weakened, mainly in L-H agglomeration area, with the phenomenon of “discrete” and “differentiation”. 4) From the perspective of influencing factors, the spatial differentiation of green development in Wuhan Metropolitan Area is the joint result of economic development, scientific and technological level, government regulation, industrial structure, opening to the outside world and environmental regulation. Among them, economic development and scientific and technological level have the deepest impact on the spatial differentiation pattern of green development in Wuhan Metropolitan Area.
