Abstract By reviewing the past of China-Ryukyu communication in the Ming and Qing Dynasties， we can clearly see how the traditional international legal order， which is totally different from nowadays’ western mode， effectively works in East Asia. What’s more， we can also indicate the huge economic benefits and national security concerns at the back of this kind of international legal order. Ryukyu’s overturn， coursed by Japan’s invasion， as the key point of the transition of the international legal order in East Asia， declared that the traditional international legal system which is China centered was going collapsing. All the nations in Chinese cultural circle were forced to enter the newer international legal order which is belonging to western colonial system by the trend of history.
