Abstract The Song Dynasty witnessed the prosperity of Ci poems on objects. The formation and development of Ci poems on objects in the Song Dynasty was related not only to the recreational function of the Ci poems on objects in its early stage of development， but also to the elegant aesthetic interest and artistic skills pursed by the writers of Ci poems， and so on. Furthermore，the reason that Ci poems on objects tended to be extremely prosperous until the end of the Song Dynasty was closely related to the re-stimulation of the lyric tradition of ancient Chinese literature under specific circumstances.
