Abstract As the nation embarks on a new journey of building a modern socialist country in all aspects， promoting the modernization of the country’s governance system and governance capabilities is a major strategy for the modernization with Chinese characteristics. In the process of China’s modernization， the historical development and practical logic of the rural governance inevitably determine the orientation of the modernization of rual governance. The construction of the party’s grassroots organizations， of the rural political system， of rural culture， and the common prosperity of urban and rural areas are the core issues of promoting the modernization of rural governance. They determine the basic path of the modernization of rural governance： propelling and strengthening the construction of grassroots organizations； constructing a new pattern of rural governance in which the strategies of the self-governance and rural revitalization promote each other in a collaborative way； improving the new rural governance system under the leadership of the party committee， and enhancing the ability of quality governance in rural areas； building and optimizing the governance mechanism for common prosperity； strengthening the construction of rural culture， and deeply cultivating the social capital of rural governance.
