Mountain Societies from the Perspective of Archaeological Science: Exploring New Approaches to Prehistory in the Mountains of Southwestern China
Lü Hongliang
Mountains have long been considered as the periphery of civilization. However, recent archaeological discoveries and theoretical advancements suggest that mountains are not only crucial sites for human activities but also key channels for cultural exchange and technological diffusion. Based on a review of the latest research on agriculture, animal husbandry, and cultural exchange in the southwestern mountains during prehistory, this paper presents important research directions and topics for future mountain archaeology within the framework of archaeological science. The rich ecosystems and diverse cultural landscapes of the mountain regions of southwestern China exploring from an interdisciplinary perspective provide a unique perspective for understanding how humans adapted to complex environments and achieved sustainable development.

Politics Giving Birth to Large-Scale Producers: Accountability for Food Security and Action Strategies of Local Governments and Farmers——A Study of 13 Villages in 6 Counties in Hunan Province
Deng Dacai
The rapid rise of large-scale food producers in the last decade has become a prominent economic and political phenomenon in the field of “agriculture, countryside, and farmers”. A study of changes in the accountability system for food security reveals that there is a close relationship between the accountability system and the emergence of large-scale food producers. Changes in the accountability system for food security affect the strategies of action and choices made by local governments, villages, farmers and large households. The administrative and political requirements of accountability system for food security have little effect on the relevant action subjects, but once the accountability system is transformed into administrative accountability, political accountability, and the superposition of the two, the behavior of the relevant action subjects will be reshaped. If local party committees and governments introduce additional support policies, it will further intensify the differentiation of farmers, promote the transfer and concentration of land to large-scale producers, and accelerate the emergence and scale expansion of large food producers. The large households created by strong administrative and political accountability can be called “political large-scale producers”. The “political large-scale producers” are different from the “capitalist farms” put forward by Karl Marx and the “vertical integration” operation based on family farms put forward by Alexander Chayanov. It is a kind of business subject and business mode with both political and economic characteristics.

The Creation and Continuation of Incomplete Property Rights of Farmland in China
Wang Jingyao Zheng Peng
The main focus of deepening rural reform in the new situation is still to handle the relationship between farmers and land. The reform of the farmland property rights system is a crucial breakthrough in solving the “three rural issues” (agriculture, countryside, and farmers). Compared with the institutional reform of private property rights in the West, China’s farmland property rights system has always been incomplete. How to explain the endurance of this incomplete farmland property rights has become the research basis. Through the analysis of the phasic characteristics of incomplete farmland property rights in China, it is found that the national governance objectives and the capacity of grassroots governance constitute the generative logic of incomplete farmland property rights. That is, the national objectives of resource extraction and order stabilization affect the benefits of maintaining incomplete property rights, while the autonomy and implementation capacity of grassroots governments affect the costs of promoting complete property rights. The formal institutional reform of the state and the informal institutional adjustment of society together constitute the survival logic of incomplete farmland property rights. It is manifested in the state’s top-down mandatory reform and bottom-up induced reform to reduce the “public domain” of property rights, and also in the farmers’ use of the protection of village organizations and support of social norms to reduce “rent dissipation”. Since the interaction between national governance and grassroots governance, and the interaction between formal institutions and informal institutions mainly occur in the grassroots field, incomplete farmland property rights also profoundly affect the operation of grassroots governance power, and promote the continuous transformations in the relationship between grassroots administration and rural autonomy. In order to deepen the reform of rural property rights system, it is necessary to further subdivide the property rights functions under the premise of collective ownership, and also to improve the collective action ability based on village and community autonomy, so as to realize the organic connection between property rights functions and governance effectiveness.

,On the Impact of the Development of Farmers’ Professional Cooperatives on the Urban-Rural Income Gap
,Gao Huayun
Farmers’ professional cooperatives effectively organize scattered small farmers and innovate the mode of agricultural production and operation, which is an effective means to narrow the income gap between and achieve common prosperity of urban and rural areas. Based on theoretical analysis, this paper uses the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2010 to 2022 to empirically analyze the impact of the development of farmers’ professional cooperatives on narrowing the urban-rural income gap. The results show that: the overall development level of farmers’ professional cooperatives has a significant impact on narrowing the income gap between urban and rural areas, and the regression results of the four sub-dimensions of the levels of organization, production and operation, profit and income increase, and social services are also significant. The development of farmers’ specialized cooperatives in non-grain-producing areas has a significant impact on narrowing the urban-rural income gap, but the effect in the grain-producing areas is not significant; the development of farmers’ specialized cooperatives in high-relief-degree areas has a significant impact on narrowing the urban-rural income gap, but the effect in low-relief-degree areas is not significant. The level of urbanization has a threshold effect on the role of the development of farmers’ professional cooperatives in narrowing the urban-rural income gap. In order to narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas and promote common prosperity, the government needs to vigorously develop farmers’ professional cooperatives in rural areas, especially in non-grain-producing areas and high-relief-degree areas, so as to improve their comprehensive levels of organization, production and operation, profit and income increase, and social services. The government should also pay attention to improving the level of local urbanization and provide a better external environment for the development of farmers’ professional cooperatives.

,An Analysis of the Impact of Social Capital on Wages——From the Perspective of Diminished Job Search Motivation
,Liu Yuanchun Ding Yang
It is generally believed that social capital is beneficial in increasing job seekers’ income levels during the job search process. However, this paper based on data from the China General Social Survey (CGSS) reveals a contrary conclusion: on average, those who rely on connections to find jobs earn nearly 10% less than those who find jobs on their own. Further mechanism analysis suggests that social capital can weaken people’s job search efforts, thereby limiting the potential matching opportunities between human capital and job vacancies, and reducing the level of return on human capital. While traditional studies often argue that the social capital network effect benefits oneself at the expense of others, this paper cautions that over-reliance on social capital may harm others and oneself as well. This has important implications for fostering the job-seeking mindset of “relying on oneself rather than others” and for maximizing talent and ensuring that everyone’s abilities are fully utilized.

Discursive Strategies in ESG Information Disclosure
Duan Zhao Li Bingjie
With the increasing popularity of the concept of sustainable development, listed companies are paying more and more attention to ESG information disclosure, but the research on the influence of discourse and stakeholder behavior in their information disclosure is still insufficient. This paper delves into the organizational discourse analysis, combines situational characteristics, introduces the micro-interaction investigation of participating subjects, to propose a new theoretical explanation for manipulative behaviors and their mechanisms in the ESG information disclosures of listed companies. It also uses new variables for empirical testing and obtains new findings. The results show that under the current institutional environment, there may be an institutional decoupling behavior in ESG information disclosure that has not been discovered by existing research, that is, listed companies will adjust the degree of subjectivity and objectivity of the disclosure text according to the quarterly growth performance close to the ESG disclosure time. The worse the near-term growth performance, the more the degree of subjectivity of the disclosure text increases compared with the previous period; the greater the pressure from stakeholders, the more obvious the strategy; this decoupling manifested as the “near-term effect” stems from the self-interest and short-sightedness of management; the implementation of the strategy will bring about a positive market reaction. It is suggested that in addition to improving the ability to discern market information, the prevention of this strategy be solved by optimizing the internal governance structure of listed companies and intervening in the micro-interaction process of ESG disclosure decisions.

The Writing Perspective and Psychological Mechanism of Subtext Inscription in The Legend of a Dream of Red Mansions
Li Shuyan
As the first opera work in the adaptation history of A Dream of Red Mansions, Zhong Zhenkui’s The Legend of a Dream of Red Mansions in the Qianlong and Jiaqing period has attracted a lot of attention since its publication. An investigation into the Green Cloud and Red Rain Mountain House edition of The Legend of a Dream of Red Mansions in the fourth year of Jiaqing has shown that the identity of the writers of the preface, postscript, inscription and other subtexts is inextricably linked to the author of the legend, Zhong Zhenkui; the writing perspective is multi-dimensional, in that it implicitly summarizes the key plot of the content of The Legend of a Dream of Red Mansions, or promotes the creative work of the playwright’s artistic adaptation, or depicts the situation of the theater performance of The Legend of a Dream of Red Mansions at that time. As for the psychological mechanism of writing these subtexts, “expressing emotions” and “making up for hatred” are undoubtedly the psychological resonance of the playwright and the audience.

The Writings of Shousheng, the Pathfinder of Modern Chinese Regional Literature of Border Areas
Xie Tingqiu
In the 1930s, Shousheng, a pioneer of Guizhou’s new literature, left Guizhou and settled in Beijing. He wrote about the border areas with the sharp style of social analysis, exposing the various realities of the rural society with the vision of a politician. His novels are ukiyo-e of the barbaric border areas. Shousheng’s regional novels are characterized with documentary reportage, miscellaneous political thesis, and biting satire, revealing the brutality and bloodshed of “cannibalism of the rural region” in the border areas under the scourges of government, military disaster, banditry, and smoke and poison, and illuminating the national inferiority that suffocates the “people of the rural region”, thus expanding a new space for modern local literature. Shousheng is one of the most important writers in modern Chinese regional literature of border areas. Shousheng is a pathfinder of modern frontier regional literature in China. Shousheng along with Jian Xianai, who also resided in Beijing and wrote about the region, constitutes the Gemini constellation of Guizhou’s new literature.

The Mood Function of the Tense Marker “Xiè” in Xinmi Dialect of Henan Province
Si Luohong
The tense markers that have the function of mood are found in many languages including English. The tense marker “xiè” in the Xinmi dialect of Henan Province also has the function of expressing mood. “Xiè” in the Xinmi dialect can be attached to time words and verbs to indicate that the action occurred in the past; “xiè” can also appear at the end of a declarative sentence to indicate that the content of the sentence is contrary to reality. It is a typical counterfactual virtual marker. After adding the counterfactual marker “xiè” to a declarative sentence, it usually carries a feeling of regret; “xiè” can appear at the end of interrogative sentences with explicit syntactic features such as specific questions, choice questions, positive and negative questions, to convey a tone of inquiry. Yes or no questions do not have explicit syntactic features and “xiè” cannot be added to the end of the sentence to express a tone of inquiry.

The Prepositional Structure Composed of “Wang(往)” and Related Grammatical Problems
Liu Bin
The difference between the prepositional structure composed of “wang(往)”, namely “wang(往) XV” and “V wang(往) X” , mainly lies in the nature of V and X, the way of framing, the highlighting of key points, and the tendency of style. In the special “wang(往) XV” structure that expresses the abstract direction or aspect, X is not a so-called “Localizers in V+L and A+L”, but a verb or adjective. It is only temporarily obtained the function of locality words through metaphor under construction coercion. In addition, statistics show that the frequency of “wang(往) XV” and “V wang(往) X” in news headlines is quite different, and the latter can also break through the restrictions of conventional rules. The reason is that the “Special Language Domain” attribute of news headlines is more compatible with “V wang(往) X”.

An Analysis of the Incident of Fake Prince Wei’s Visit to the North Gate of Weiyang Palace in 82 BCE
Li Feng
In the spring of 82 BCE, under the influence of the remnant forces of Prince Wei, Zhang Yannian, a man from Xiayang, went to the north gate of Weiyang Palace and claimed that Prince Wei had returned, causing tens of thousands of onlookers. Thanks to Juan Buyi’s decisive handling, this crisis was finally resolved. However, his handling of this turmoil according to Gongyang Zhuan was quite ridiculed by later generations. In fact, the statement it cited had the effect of guiding the disposal of the one who claimed to be Prince Wei, and it was not overstated to indict Prince Wei as a criminal. This incident further strengthened the relationship between Huo Guang and Emperor Zhao, and encouraged Huo Guang to endeavor more to promote virtuous governance and crack down on officials from the foreign court led by Sang Hongyang. In addition, because Juan Buyi identified Prince Wei as a criminal, which denied the idea of the remnant forces of Prince Wei to continue to use the fake Prince Wei to cause trouble, they turned to support Liu Bingyi, the grandson of Prince Wei. Although Juan Buyi made great contributions, he was dismissed from the office the following year because he refused to join Huo Guang’s group and lived out his life at home.

On the Enfeoffment and Sacrifice of “Yue Zhen Hai Du” in the Jin Dynasty
Kong Weijing
As a set of cultural and geographical concepts evolved from ancient Chinese landscape worship, “Yue Zhen Hai Du” is a symbol of national territory and the legitimacy of the dynasty. After occupying the Central Plains, the Jin Dynasty, founded by the Jurchens, established “Yue Zhen Hai Du” as the sacrificial system to create the image of a unified Chinese dynasty, comparable to the rituals and music of the Tang and Song dynasties. In light of the actual situation, the Jin Dynasty established a regular worship system with the chief officials on the “Four Establishment Days and Local King Days”, to “remotely worship” the South Mount and South Town at the Temple of Mount Song, and South Sea and South River at the Temple of Donghai Guangdewang. The question raised by Qian Daxin, a Qing Dynasty textual researcher, about the conferring of the title of princes on the five towns and four rivers during the Mingchang period was actually a misunderstanding of the relevant records in the “Dajin Jili”. On the issue of enfeoffment and sacrificial rites in Yue Zhen Hai Du, the Jin Dynasty experienced a transition from “keeping the old system of the Tang and Song Dynasties” to “keeping the old system of the Song Dynasty”, reflecting the cultural shift and orthodoxy of the Jin Dynasty during the reigns of Emperor Shizong and Emperor Zhangzong. The Jin and Song dynasties jointly worshiped Yue Zhen Hai Du through “remote worship”, making it a shared cultural and geographical symbol between the north and the south, which objectively promoted the formation of a cultural community of the Chinese nation.

On the Decline of the Order of Tianxia in Qing Dynasty by Dividing Mongolia into Inner and Outer Regions
Zhang Linxi
In sync with the delimitation of Western European countries in the 17th century, the Qing Dynasty successively delineated boundary between Monan and Mobei starting from the fifth year of Shunzhi, so that the inner and outer Mongolia were separated by the Hanhai Gobi. However, this was still the traditional “boundary” of the dynasty, not the modern product of “border”. Corresponding to the maps of Kangxi, Qianlong, and Yongzheng with no national borders to other countries nor boundaries between Inner and Outer Mongolia within the dynasty, it does not transcend the framework of ambiguous territorial sovereignty. In the middle and late Qing Dynasty, as the government divided Mongolia into inner and outer Mongolia, the maps drawn by scholars showed the national border and the boundary between Inner and Outer Mongolia. Then, in the first year of Xuantong, the metaphor of “Begonia leaf” appeared for the first time, prompting the court to pay attention to the sovereignty boundary represented by the map. However, due to the cultural deviation of Mongolian orientation and the fact that the boundary between Inner and Outer Mongolia had not been surveyed, the maps in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China all misplaced this boundary, and thus could not accurately represent the scope of Inner and Outer Mongolia. The unclear boundary also forced the court in the late Qing Dynasty to divide the boundaries of the vassal states according to the traditional world model. The lack of direct control over the border became the internal cause of Russia’s infiltration into Outer Mongolia. In this sense, the transition in the Qing Dynasty from the traditional world order to the modern concept of sovereignty did not begin with the Treaty of Nerchinsk, but began in the late Qing Dynasty and was not completed until the end of the Qing Dynasty, reflecting the duality of the Qing Dynasty’s territorial model.

Power Regulation and Rights Protection: Legal Governance of Ethical Issues of Big Data in Education
Xiao Denghui Chang Yadong
The ethical issues of big data in education are the derivative products of the integration of science and technology into education. There is a certain degree of coupling between law and ethics, and law is an important means to solve the ethical problems of educational big data. At present, the governance of the ethical problems of big data in education of China is faced with problems such as specialized laws lagging behind the policy attention, and the difficulty in governance of specific problems,so it is necessary to build a set of specialized governance system with the help of laws. While the application of big data empowers the legal relationship of “the right of education—the right to education”, it also impacts its original balance. From the perspective of power, with the characteristics of decentralization and of centrality of big data, the right to digital education has been expanded in terms of subjects and strengthened in terms of content. From the perspective of rights, the basic rights function theory of the dichotomy between “subjective rights” and “objective order of values” is more in line with the needs for substantive protection of the right to digital education, and the “subjective rights” of the right to digital education are the legal rights of individuals. The “subjective rights” of the right to digital education is the basis for individuals’ legal claims, but in order to substantively safeguard the right to digital education in the complex digital age, it is necessary to provide the corresponding institutional, organizational and procedural support from the “objective order of values”.

Towards Agile Governance: Risk Identification and Optimization Path for Education Data Governance
Liu Yangxi
Data as the fifth major factor of production has been increasingly driving the development of education. In light of the vast resources and diverse application scenarios associated with education data, based on the analysis of the characteristics of education data alongside the risks and challenges posed by traditional governance paradigms, this study proposes agile governance as a forward-looking framework for managing education data. With responsiveness and adaptability as key objectives for effective governance, openness and structural integrity as the foundation for collaborative governance efforts, agility and systematism as the empowerment of intelligent governance, and sustainability and adaptability as prerequisites for sound management practices, the study constructs an agile governance framework tailored to education data that elucidates the embedded logic of agile governance within the context of a governance system of education data. Employing a policy text analysis perspective, this study conducts text coding and content analysis on education data governance policies issued by central authorities to reveal developmental dilemmas of the current governance systems. Based on the framework of agile governance juxtaposed with these actual dilemmas, four suggestions are put forward. First, the value orientation and hierarchical structure of the goals for education data governance should be reshaped. Second, the collaborative relationship and organizational structure of the subjects of education data governance should be improved. Third, the scenario width and process depth of education data governance process should be expanded. Fourth, the regulatory feedback and iteration mechanism of the tools for education data governance should be implemented. Ultimately, a comprehensive agile governance pattern for all elements and life cycle of education data will be formed.

Continuity and Rupture: Rethinking the Tradition of University Journals in China——Based on a Comparison of the Traditions of Chinese and Western Academic Journals
Zhu Jian Zhong Weimin
As the source of the academic journal tradition, many of the pioneering contributions of Philosophical Transactions were inherited by later European and American academic journals, and with the spread of Western academics, it has shaped the academic journals of late-developing countries to a certain extent. The Chinese university journals, which have inherited the basic mission of spreading academics, are not a direct transplant of Western academic journals, but have modified some genes, grafting the relationship between academic journals and academic communities onto the relationship with the host universities. This has transformed the public platform attributes that academic journals should have into a window and garden for the host universities. To name the journal with the university title and the comprehensiveness and introversion have become both inevitable and the only choice. Such “transgenic” is extremely meaningful to the growth of universities in their childhood and the construction of their public image. The contribution made by journals to the growth of early universities is irreplaceable and indelible. However, this has also brought difficulties and obstacles to the development of the journals themselves. Although there were attempts to transform themselves into open professional journals in the 1930s, the journals have not been able to bid farewell to their childhood as a whole. The tension and conflict between the positioning of windows and gardens and the attributes of public platforms are ultimately unavoidable. As a result, at several historical junctures when the fate of universities changed, the former overwhelmed the latter without exception, and the journals had to remain in their initial state. Since the late 1970s, this state has been fixed through institutionalization. With the launch of constructing world-class universities in the 1990s, competition has unfolded at the level of international academic platforms. Journals that have sacrificed their public platform attributes and severed their blood ties with the academic community have been unable to keep up with the pace of university progress and have gradually become marginalized.
