Ecosystem service function and its value assessment for urban green space——a case study on Futian District of Shenzhen City

Abstract:Based on the interpretation results of Worldview-3 data, the spatial distribution characteristics of city green space is analyzed in Futian District, and its ecological service value is assessed, referring to the Forest Ecosystem Service Function Evaluation Specification. The results showed that: 1) the ecosystem service value of urban green space reached up to 116.834 1 million Yuan in Futian District, and the average value per unit area was 83,500 Yuan. 2) Various kinds ecological service values were sorted as follows: carbon fixation and oxygen release>water resources conservation>climate regulation>environment purification>biodiversity maintenance>soil conservation>landscape recreation. 3) The average value per unit area was various among different urban green space, namely, arbor>arbor-shrub>arbor-grass>arbor-shrub-grass>shrub>shrub-grass>grass. 4) The value of urban green space in different sub-district depended on the respective area of urban green space, namely, Lianhua>Shatou>Xiangmihu>Meilin>Futian>Fubao>Yuanling>Huaqiangbei>Huafu>Nanyuan. As the central urban area in Shenzhen, it is important for Futian District to increase spatial heterogeneity, diversify species composition, optimize plant structure, and provide sound urban green space management, which is able to maintain the ecological balance and improve the ecological services of urban green space.
