Abstract:In the present work, by using the method of complex network theory, the regional shipping network matrix is set up based on the East Asian regional port with the change of the East Asian port status investigated along Maritime Silk Road (MSR) from three aspects including port strength, port self-center, and port route quality index. The results show that the port status depends not only on infrastructure and centralization degree of ports, but also on route quality. Due to the overlap of port economic hinterland, hub status contention and fierce competition between ports in East Asia might still exist. At the same time, the switching trend of world economic center to Asia is accelerating, and the hub port is changing, indicating that East Asian ports will facing more and more opportunities and challenges.
