Abstract:Steel industry is an important basic industry in China. As an important area for the development of steel industry in China, the study of the coupling between steel industry, ecological environment and regional economy in the Yangtze River Economic Belt is of great practical significance for the implementation of high-quality development and structural reform of supply side of steel industry. In this paper, the Yangtze River Economic Belt is taken as the research object, and the coupling and coordination model of steel industry-ecological environment-regional economy (SER system) is constructed. The panel data from 2000 to 2016 are selected to conduct the coupling and coordination research. The results show that the coordinated development of SER system in the Yangtze River Economic Zone is in a state of overall coordination, and the degree of coupling and coordination is unevenly distributed among provinces and municipalities. The coordinated development degree of coupling in eastern China is obviously higher than that in central and Western China. The coordinated development degree of coupling in Jiangsu is the highest, while that in Guizhou is the lowest. Zhejiang, Hubei, Hunan and Anhui remain stable, while Shanghai and Chongqing fluctuate greatly.
