The fractal model for permeability of fractured porous media with roughed surfaces

Abstract:The study of the permeability of porous media has great value of application in many practical engineering fields, such as oil and gas reservoir, groundwater hydrology, fuel cells, fiber fabric. The fractal permeability model for Newtonian fluid transport in fractured porous media with roughed surfaces was proposed in this paper based on fractal theory and Darcy law. The results showed that the permeability of fractured porous media with roughed surfaces was a function of micro-structural parameters of fractured porous media with roughed surfaces. Every parameter had clear physical meaning and was able to reflect the physical mechanism of the permeability of fractured porous media with roughed surfaces. The influence of sine wave fluctuation amplitude factor, fracture area fractal dimension, porosity and the maximum crack width on the permeability of fractured-porous media was analyzed. To verify the validity of fractal permeability model, it’s compared with the available permeability model and good agreement was generated.
