Research on the path of university science and technology journals supporting the cultivation of young academic talents： taking Journal of Central China Normal University（Natural Sciences) as an example

Abstract：University science and technology journals have the function and responsibility of discovering and cultivating young academic talents. However， due to the influence of the current journal evaluation system， the mission of university journals to serve the cultivation of young talents has been neglected and their function has been weakened. In order to better fulfill the function and responsibility of cultivating young talents， this paper starts from the role of university science and technology journals in the cultivation of young academic talents. Based on analysing the main issues， taking Journal of Central China Normal University （Natural Sciences） as an example， it explores the path for university science and technology journals to assist young academic talents in collaborative innovation and development in the construction of academic communities： 1） journals and mentors collaborate to provide guidance on paper writing for young academic talents； 2） strengthening the display role of journal platforms， actively publish and promote outstanding achievements of young academic talents； 3） inviting young academic talents to participate in journal publishing and building a mutually reinforcing academic community； 4） working together with relevant departments to improve the journal evaluation system and evaluation indicators， and jointly building a good academic ecosystem. University science and technology journals should return to the original intention and mission of serving the cultivation of young academic talents. While strengthening the leading role of academic positions， they should also discover and support the growth of young academic talents， and provide a continuous source of innovative power for the future development of science and technology journals， so as to effectively promote the high-quality development of science and technology journals in China.
