Abstract:Accurate and rapidextraction of urban water information is the fundamental basis for investigation of spatio-temporal distribution of urban water, water pollution monitoring, water environmental protection, and utilization of water environment. This paper summarizes the research progress of urban water information extraction methodsand comprehensively evaluates the characteristics of commonly used methods based on the domestic and internationalresearch results of urban water information extraction in recent years. Beside, the key difficulties and challenges are revealed, such as optimal threshold setting, method universality, and spatial resolution of urban water remote sensing extraction. Moreover, future research directions and key scientific issues are clarified and foreseen.
