Abstract:Uncontrolled air pollution will seriously affect people's lives and health. Therefore, China has implemented a series of strict measures to reduce air pollutants since the Eleventh Five-Year Plan. However, there are some blind spots in monitoring scattered pollution sources due to the complexity and diversity of air pollution activities. Relevant ground-based pollution statistics may not accurately reflect the actual emission reduction results. Satellite remote sensing technology, as a large-scale and full coverage monitoring means, can monitor the spatial and temporal change trend of air pollutants, and thus objectively represent the emission reduction effect. Therefore, through the spatio-temporal trend analysis of OMI satellite remote sensing air pollution products, the impact of SO2 and NOx emission reduction in Hubei Province since the Eleventh Five-Year Plan was estimated in this study. The results showed that the SO2 concentration in most areas of Hubei Province exhibited a significant downward trend, while the NO2 concentration didn't change significantly. The SO2 concentration in Yichang, Jingmen, and several other areas in western parts of Hubei showed a significant increase, which requires urgent attention.
