Abstract:This paper deals with the effects of allelochemicals extracted from decomposed wheat residue and soic around on amylase, peroxidase and catalase as well as their isoenzymes of wheat and rice seedlings. It was found that the activity of amylase and catalase of treated seedlings was remarkably depressed while that of peroxidase was strikingly stimulated, and that the changes also took place in amylase and peroxidase isozyme electrophoresis zymogramscomparaed with the controll. All that suggests some possible ways by which allelochemicals inhibit the seed germination and seedling gowth of whect and rice.
