Abstract：This paper introduces Li Siguang's thought of seismic geology and earthquake prediction. China is a country with many earthquakes. Earthquake is a kind of geologic events and can be predited. Professor Li pointed out the direction of earthquake prediction. He thought earthquake is the result of the antagonistic controdiction between the activity of ground-stress and crustal rock resistence, or a form of present movements of earth crust. Its contribution is closely connected with the active structural systems or some active structural zones of tectonic systems. He thought we should difine the seismicly dangerious areas and observe changing process of crustal stress through establishing field stations, and explore the way of earthquake forecasting.
