Abstract：The paper studied the distribution, macrostruetion, microstruction, clay mineral compositions and chemical compositions, etc. of loess on the east slope of Xiaoxianling Mountain whichis located in the southwest of Shichuan Province. The authors take it for grented that the materials which the loess is composed of, during Quaternary glacial stages, were mainly transported from the northwest of China to the present place by wind. After it deposited, some changes took place in its characteristics due to the impact of local environment.
