Abstract:This paper begins with detailed analyses of two typical sections. Throught the methods of regional contrast, the author has reconstructed Quaternary stratigraphic sequences in East foot of Taihang Mountain based on field observations and laboratory analyses. They are that decayed gravel stratum, reddish clay gravel stratum, yellowish sandy gravel stratum, and greyish gravel stratum respectively represents the sediments of early Pleistocene, middIe Pleistocene, lower of late Pleistocence and upper of late Pleistocence. The exhaustive study on palaeoanvironmeat informations preserved in each stratum, such as, sunken pit gravels, breaking and undispersing gravels, ball weathing pebbles, sporo-poilen, calciumnization etc. showes that there are three times glaciations and one times periglaciation happened in this studied area during Quaternary. Thus palaeoclimatic evolution system contain three ice ages and one periglacial age in Pleistocene. in the end of this paper, author puts up some questions which much attentions must be given in future.
