Abstract:Isozyme patterns of 9 Lepidopteran cell lines were compared. The cell lines used in this study represent 3 taxonomic families. Cell extracts were examiend for (?) isozymes employing Cellulose Acetate Electrcphoresis. They are discriminated at interspecies ievel by these isozyme patterns. Although BCIRL-SO_3-HNU_1 and BCIRL-SO_4 HNU_2 are from the same species, Spcdoptera ornithogatt(?), there is an observable difference in isozymatic activity of isocitrate dehydrogenase between the two cell lines. It shows that isozymatic activity may be a useful parameter for identification of some intraspecies of cell lines. In this paper, a discussion is given to the difference in isozyme pattern of isocitrate dehydrogenase between IPLB-SFP-21, a persistent Baculovirus infected lepidopt eran cell line, and its parent cell line IPLB-SF-21
