Abstract：In this paper,the author discussed the question on the appraisal of mathematicion Cheng Dawei and his work Suan Fa Tong Zong from four parts: 1. Thegreat signficance abc.ut Cheng Dawei's Suan Fa Tong Zong. 2. Cheng Dawei's impartant effect to spreading math knowledge. 3. Cheng Dawei's improvement of calculating tool. 4. Cheng Dawei's contribution to math study.
