Abstract:In order to evaluate better ion effects in the Wittig reaction, the reactions of the absolutely salt-free stabilized ylide, carboethoxylmethylene-triphenylphosphorane Ph3P-CHCO2Et, with p-Chlorobenzaldehyde in different solvents and in the presence of the additional salts which contain the same anion or same canon were firstly examined in detail. The results showed that ion effect depends on the characteristic of the ions and the solvent used. A possible mechanism'of the reaction was given.
