Abstract：The species diversity of Davidia involucrata var. vilmoriniana (Dode) Wanger in Hubei Houhe National Nature Reserve was measured with species diversity index (Simpson index and Shannon index), species richness index and Pielou's evenness index. The result shows that the species diversity of the communities decreases with the increase of elevation. The species diversity indices were different for different layers. In the communities the tree layer and the herbaceous layer have higer diversity. The species diversity of the communites was richer.
